Our Story

In 1965, four brothers and one brother-in-law had established glass shops in Dothan and Mobile, AL., and in Pensacola and Panama City, FL. These men decided to bring their shops together in one corporation. Since the Dothan, AL. store had been incorporated as Dothan Glass Co., all of the stores were brought into the corporation while maintaining their original names. A nephew, Kenneth Merritt, had opened a shop in Panama City, FL. With a desire to include him in the family business it was decided to open a shop in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. with Kenneth serving as manager.

In the summer of 1965, the business was started at 141 S. E. Eglin Parkway with the name of City Glass Co. A strong commitment to providing quality products with excellent service and the best in professional workmanship for the commercial and residential market has brought success to this endeavor. The company is a full service glass shop which is also involved in retail sales and auto glass replacement and repair.

The company moved to its current location at 16 S. W. Hollywood Boulevard in 1969. Due to the rapid growth of the business, the warehouse was expanded in 1973. After Mr. Merritt retired, John Vinson assumed the role of manager in October 1984, having served the company in various capacities since its beginning. Following John Vinson's death in 2005, Clint Willard has led the dedicated employees of City Glass Co. in continuing the level of service which has brought our success. We are proud to have been a part of the growth that has taken place in the Gulf Coast region.
